Chennai:
"As the number of lives lost to hunger worldwide continues to rise day by day, 'celebrating' World Hunger Day brings immense pain. Instead of merely observing this day, rulers and administrations must step forward to create a world free of hunger," stated Dr. Shibu, the founder of My Jeevan Aid Trust, in an official press release.
Expanding on this in a detailed statement, he noted:
"It is a painful reality that World Hunger Day is observed globally. However, when millions of people across the world struggle every single day to secure even a single meal, how is it justifiable to commemorate such a day? The bitter truth is that every single second, someone in the world is losing their life to starvation.
A Hunger-Free World:
Merely passing resolutions or making empty speeches will not suffice. The Government of Tamil Nadu, along with global leaders, must take proactive, concrete steps to build a society where hunger does not exist.
Moving Beyond Awareness to Action:
Instead of wasting time in the name of 'awareness days', we need to stringently implement laws and food distribution programs that guarantee food security for every single citizen.
Towards a Solution:
We must reach a point in history where the concept of a 'Hunger Day' no longer exists. True humanity will blossom only when we ensure that no human being dies of starvation anywhere in the world.
Hunger is not a biological disease; it is a profound social tragedy. No economic or societal growth is truly complete as long as we fail to wipe away the tears of those crying for food. Therefore, we must stop using this day as a mere annual reminder and instead unite to completely eradicate starvation from its roots.
Governments must work with intense focus to transform not just Tamil Nadu, but the entire world into a planet free from the agony of hunger," emphasized Dr. Shibu in his statement.
